A neighborhood that truly lives stands out. Omloop has recently been nominated for the Rietveld Prize 2026, the biennial Utrecht prize for a completed project that not only stands on its own merits but also contributes to the quality of the built environment. Client Woonin has a chance to win the Truus Schröder Prize for good commissioning. The winners will be announced this autumn. Voting for the public prize can take place after the summer.
Omloop repairs and densifies an Utrecht working-class neighborhood with 273 new social rental homes and shared inner gardens. Not new construction that erases the past, but a careful intervention in Berlage's existing urban fabric. The collective inner gardens are both social and climate-adaptive, bringing old and new residents together.
