About LEVS
Vision
Our designs are the creative link that answers the major challenges of our time in the city of tomorrow. We do this based on three pillars.
Connection, Future, and Innovation
We design buildings that connect people: with each other, their environment, and life in the city. In every project, we foster collaboration. We create buildings that reduce CO₂ emissions during construction and use, make smart use of materials, and last for generations. Through innovative construction methods and data-driven solutions, we push boundaries and develop sustainable alternatives that truly make a difference. This is how we build places where people live together and where the city can thrive.
Approach
We oversee the entire process, from vision to engineering. With our full-service BIM approach, we collaborate seamlessly and integrally with all construction partners, ensuring no project is impossible. As directors of the design process, we ensure that all stakeholders – from client to builder – contribute to one shared goal. We stand for solution-oriented collaboration driven by a passion for the built environment. We call our approach realistic idealism.
Team
Designing is teamwork. From Cruquiuseiland in Amsterdam, we work with an international team to create livable cities and a sustainable future. Working at LEVS means joining a close-knit community. We learn from each other and make new discoveries together—whether through site visits, internal presentations, or excursions at home and abroad. Our warm, open office space invites collaboration. We invest wholeheartedly in our people, because together we are LEVS.
Partner Team
LEVS architecten was founded in 1990 by Marianne Loof and Jurriaan van Stigt. In 2005, Adriaan Mout joined as the third partner to help shape the firm’s growing profile and new visions. In 2021, Surya Steijlen and Christiaan Schuit became partners. Together with Marianne, Adriaan, and Jurriaan, they lead the realization of our ambitions in complex urban challenges. With Surya and Chris, we harness the inspiration and vision of a younger generation to tackle future challenges.
Knowledge Sharing
We love sharing our knowledge and celebrating remarkable projects. We do this through book publications, such as Carbon-Based Design and our work on Cruquiuseiland in Amsterdam. We give lectures and workshops with our clients. To further architectural debate, LEVS also sponsors different architecture centers.
