Adriaan Mout became partner at LEVS architecten in 2005, to help shape the broadening profile and new visions of the office. After his studies at TU Delft, he learned the trade at a small firm, after which he worked for fifteen years at Architecten Cie. During that time he realised several internationally acclaimed projects as lead project architect. In all of these, the relationship between building typology, architecture, urban design and landscape played a decisive role. At LEVS, this development continued and broadened to include complex urban assignments and integration with the landscape.
Adriaan sees architecture as a true all-round profession, encompassing the full range of technical and intellectual skill. He brings them all to bear on complex projects with great diversity of requirements. In cities, people want space and quiet, but also dynamism and excitement. Adriaan develops a vision for each assignment that ensures a place is created where everyone feels at home. This is clearly reflected in the urban ensembles of the Hogekwartier in Amersfoort and in the new residential business district of Gershwin Brothers in Amsterdam. Urban development and densification in- and near the inner cities has come to play an increasingly important role. Projects such as De Binnenbocht in Amsterdam and Binck Blocks in The Hague require a true pioneering spirit.
He is also actively involved in the BNA, in the past in the European Procurement- and BIM working groups, and since 2013 as a member of the Members Council. Adriaan has published in FORUM magazine, and writes a monthly column for Cobouw, since 2018.
