To hold up a mirror to ourselves, we analyzed the CO₂ performance of a broad selection of projects from our portfolio over the past five years. We assessed this against the commitment statements we signed: Timber Construction Pact MRA (Metropol Region Amsterdam), Paris Proof, Future-Proof Building, and Biobased Building.

The outcome? The downward trend has begun, but we are still far from our goals. However, since 2020, a clear positive trend is visible with promising projects.
Two-thirds of our projects are Paris Proof and in the MRA, 34% of our homes are built with timber. Of the projects in the MRA currently in development, that percentage is 83%. Well above the 20% target. At the same time, we see that not all design choices automatically lead to lower emissions. For example, foundations also have a significant impact in timber construction, and high-rise timber buildings still face practical hurdles such as insurability.
By being open and transparent about what works – and what does not yet – we contribute to a broader conversation about sustainable design.
