At Home in a Living Landscape
Tender Jacobus, Renkum
A Connecting Landscape
We restore the original dry valley slope into a landscape rich in relief, embedding the volumes within it. Due to local height differences, the homes feature a split-level design. The landscape is intersected by a meandering wadi. This watercourse collects rainwater, prevents drought, and provides space for play and experiencing nature. By preserving existing trees and supplementing with new forest planting, a green, climate-resilient whole is created where nature and residents meet.
Architecture Rooted in Wood
The architecture in Jacobus is gentle and village-like, inspired by the surrounding landscape. We are building with biobased materials such as timber frame construction and CLT, ensuring low climate impact and healthy, energy-efficient homes. Pre-weathered wooden façades, pergolas, and sloping roofs strengthen the connection with greenery. Dynamic volumes and smart detailing respond to light, air, and relief, allowing the homes to blend seamlessly into the living landscape.
A Home for People, Animals, and Nature
Jacobus is designed as a place where biodiversity thrives. Native planting, water buffers, and wooden structures provide habitats for flora and fauna. Differences in elevation create microclimates that enhance species richness. Trees, shrubs, and flower-rich vegetation purify the air and improve the ecosystem. This results in a healthy, nature-inclusive living environment where people and nature are in balance, and where every season brings something new to discover.
