During the celebratory start of construction for Fusion—formerly World of Food—in Amsterdam Zuidoost, we presented a special gift to project developers Lingotto and BPD, as well as housing association Eigen Haard: a ceramic red button inscribed with “World Peace”, created by Amsterdam-based artist Koos Buster, the self-proclaimed Minister of Ceramic Affairs.
The World Peace button is a playful ceramic reinterpretation of the classic ‘red button.’ However, instead of destruction, this button activates a utopian idea: world peace. The artwork aligns with the core values of Fusion: World of Food brought together cultures, colors, flavors, paths, and people. That is also the goal of Fusion. It is only fitting to mark the beginning of construction with an artwork that embodies this very idea.
