The construction of Koningswei has begun: the first piles have been driven into the ground. This officially marks the start of the transformation from a paved square into a lively urban park.

Where asphalt and stone still dominate today, a new city heart will emerge: Koningswei. On top of the existing parking garage, a green 'meadow' will rise - a place to breathe, linger, and meet one another in the middle of the city. Not decorative greenery as an afterthought, but the starting point of an entirely new part of the city.

LEVS architects designed the north block, De Hoogwachter, on behalf of Amvest, a.s.r. real estate, TBV Wonen and the municipality of Tilburg. AWG architects designed the south block, De Weidewachter. Together, the two buildings form the edge of the new meadow - like guardians watching over the space between them.

Koningswei will have 364 homes: owner-occupied, mid-market rental, private-sector rental and social housing. A deliberate mix that makes the neighborhood diverse and vibrant from the outset. In addition, Het Gastenhuis will have a place in the plan, and there will be room for hospitality directly next to the greenery.

Koningswei will become a place where the city can catch its breath. It is an invitation - to residents, to the city - to slow down. At a time when cities are becoming more crowded, Koningswei offers peace in the busy city.
