First Red Cross project finished, second to come

On the construction site of the Physical Rehabilitation Centre in Mopti (Mali) the masonry has nearly been finished. LEVS was asked to implement its specific expertise of using hydraulically compressed earth blocks in the construction process. In half a year this regional hub for vital services for people with disabilities will be opened. The project is financed and supervised by the International Committee of the Red Cross. It is a good example of developing communities by building with local people guided by a local contractor and using local material. Our experience in designing en and precisely detailing walls, floors and vaulted ceilings out of earth blocks led to the initial design of the buildings actually being realized in HCEB. As a result, the Red Cross asked our expertise for another physical rehabilitation centre which they are developing in the Central African city of Bangui.
Client: International Committee of the Red Cross, local contractor EAD (Entreprise Amatigue Dara)
