Renewing, Densifying and Greening in Omloop Utrecht

The urban renewal along the outer edge of Utrecht's Ondiep neighborhood can enter the next phase. LEVS is designing the Omloop project along the northern bend of the tuning fork-shaped main road that surrounds the area. With almost 300 homes, this area is becoming considerably denser. In the scarce surrounding space we are working with FLUX landscape architecture on intensive communal green zones to build nature-inclusive, climate-proof and healthier. The design has a clear embedding in the surrounding urban and social fabric. Partly through an extensive participation process with local residents. Like two of our previously completed plans in the adjacent Fruitbuurt, Omloop strives for a particularly high quality of materialization and creates a recognizable, cohesive area.
