The hull is up and the construction has reached its highest point. Between the iconic dome of the former Haarlem prison and the Spaarne river, LEVS is working on a diverse residential area. The Scheepmakerskwartier is part of the protected cityscape along the river, and so the new design hon-ors the historic transition from intimate neighborhood on the inside to stately boulevard along the water. Our design features a town-like atmosphere with family homes and a small apartment build-ing, which transition smoothly into the waterfront row of proud canal houses. Overlooking the wa-ter, the canal houses present great variety in terms of their architecture and living typologies: they are all different, yet find each other in a self-evident coherence.
